NCCMA Short Course on Native Grass ID in Kerang and St Arnaud

Expressions of interest (EOI) are now being accepted  by the North Central CMA for a short course in native grass identification. The two-day course is free and will cover:

  • Description, diversity, importance and classification of the grass family
  • Anatomy, structure and variation in the grass plant
  • Main identifying features of grasses
  • Using botanical keys and collecting specimens for identification
  • Grass and grassy ecosystem ecology in Australia

This interactive course will involve lectures and hands-on experience in the laboratory, followed by a field trip on the second day.  Courses are been run in late October 2013 (Kerang) and late November 2013 (St Arnaud).

The course will be presented by local botanist and ecologist Paul Foreman, who has over 20 years experience in land management and nature conservation in Victoria.
