  • OUR MONITORING PROGRAM

One of the long-term aims of Connecting Country is to assist landholders and Landcare groups to work towards landscape scale improvements across the Mount Alexander Shire and immediate surrounds.  In collaboration with Professor Andrew Bennett (Research Centre for Future Landscapes, La Trobe University), Connecting Country has therefore developed broad-scale, long-term monitoring programs that collect data to help us understand the extent to which the rehabilitation activities undertaken across the region are leading to a healthier environment.

It includes the monitoring of:

Nest boxes

Monitoring nest boxes for arboreal mammals

Woodland birds

Annual bird surveys within intact habitats, revegetation areas and paddocks.

Reptiles & Frogs

Using tiles to monitor reptiles and frogs

We also encourage landholders to carry out their own monitoring. To find out how, including the Birdwatcher’s Monitoring Kit, go to our Monitor Change resources page.
