web.-soil-healThe North Central CMA is holding workshops about visual soil assessments to improve soil and plant health in Wedderburn (5 August) and Waubra (6 August). Expressions of interest (EOI) are now being accepted.

The one-day workshops will cover:

  • Cheap and easy tools to assess soil condition and plant performance.
  • Soil fertility and smart farming
  • Balancing the four key aspects of farming: sustained profitability, good environmental outcomes, production of quality food and a high quality of life.
  • Increasing soil health and profit.
  • Measures to maximise plant water use efficiency.

The course will be presented by New Zealand soil scientist and agricultural consultant Graham Shepherd, from BioAgriNomics.  Graham developed the Visual Soil Assessment method after many years of research and experience.  It has now been adopted as the national standard throughout New Zealand for assessing and monitoring soil quality.

The course is open to farmers in the North Central CMA region. To apply please fill in and submit the EOI form by 5 pm Monday 21 July 2014 by emailing info@nccma.vic.gov.au or posting to PO Box 18, Huntly VIC.
