2026 Feathery Festival: Nature Journaling and Sticky Beak Property Tour
Posted on 10 August, 2026 by Hadley Cole
In celebration of our local Woodland Birds, Connecting Country, Birdlife Castlemaine and Castlemaine Field Naturalist Club are teaming up to present the biennual Feathery Festival!
After a successful inaugural festival in 2024, the biennial Feathery Festival is back in 2026 with a big program offering a diversity of opportunities to learn about our local woodland birds. The festival is centered around National Threatened Species Day (acknowledged annually on 7 September) and aims to raise awareness and celebrate our beautiful local woodland birds, many which are sadly threatened with extinction.
To celebrate all things nature, not just our feathered friends, Birdlife Castlemaine are hosting a Nature Journaling session and a Sticky Beak Property Tour on Sunday 6 September. This event offers the opportunity to visit a local property that is in the process of being restored for bird habitat, and if you feel the urge spend some time with local artist Jane Rusden learning the art of nature journaling (no experience necessary).
